DJ (she/her/hers) and Daniel (he/him/his) met the modern way: by matching on a dating app in early 2018. They have two very different recollections of their first date. DJ's version: Their first date was a bit short-lived and kind of a disaster. DJ not so wisely decided to schedule the first date during her lunch break on a workday (who does that?!). She then had the audacity to show up late wearing two totes (one on each shoulder...) due to a work appointment running over, with a mere 30 minutes remaining. She was so flustered and embarrassed that she was certain Daniel would never want a second date. Daniel's version: Daniel, however, was so smitten that he asked if she wanted to take the Caltrain home with him after work. Yes, the same day. On the train, he promptly spilled a bag of chips all over his shirt. He was so flustered and embarrassed that he was certain DJ would never want a second date...unless he borrowed Merlin (an undeniably cute corgi) from his good friend Jamie. Thanks to Merlin's cuteness and Jamie's generosity, DJ and Daniel's second date went much better. And a few more dates later, Daniel asked DJ out and they've been together ever since. A few of their favorite memories from their time together: Mendocino and Taiwan trips, attending a wedding together in LA, becoming pawrents to Luna (RIP) and a hyperactive tabby Nova, moving in then moving to two different cities together, and their private civil ceremony in 2022.
